Now in it’s fifth year, the prized behind closed doors Entrepreneurs Scholarship for 2016 is open for applications. As the winner of this exclusive scholarship, one fortunate South Australian female business owner will get the chance to tap into the considerable business acumen of some of the state’s leading businesswomen.
That’s the message from Behind Closed Doors’ (BCD) Founder and Managing Director Donny Walford who has launched her company’s highly-valued Entrepreneurs Scholarship for 2016.
Ms Walford says the applications, open to female owners and operators of small-to-medium size businesses, closes on August 12. The winner will spend 12 months in a local entrepreneurs group that meets 10 times a year under the expert guidance of leading entrepreneurs such as Kylie Bishop, Ann Angel and Kelly Baker-Jamieson.
“BCD is a women’s professional development and mentoring company connecting businesswomen nationally and our Entrepreneurs Scholarship Program is undoubtedly one of our most highly-valued and successful initiatives,” Ms Walford said.
“We established the membership to address a growing need among female business owners and entrepreneurs for a quality support network where they can discuss strategies, issues and challenges in a totally confidential environment.
“At the same time, and through the delivery of practical leadership and management sessions, the scholarship winner will be encouraged to extend herself further, increase her expertise, expand business relationships and receive support in seeking out Board positions.
“History tells us that our scholarship winners emerge with enhanced personal and professional skills that, applied to their businesses, invariably contribute to the increased success and sustainability of their business venture.”
The winner will also receive, among others, automatic inclusion in the BoardDirect register, access to other businesswomen’s networks and exposure and introductions to senior people in business and government.
Scholarship Alumni include Anna Dimond, Managing Director and Designer Palas Jewellery; Nicole Nott, CEO Sitemed; Jeanette Long, Director Ag Consulting Co; and, most recently, Belinda Jennings, Founder and CEO of Mum Central, Australian Baby Bargains and Mums Pantry.
