Tell us about your current role and the organisation you work for!
I am a private client adviser at FinSec Partners, providing personal financial advice to individuals and families. I work with a range of clients from young people starting their careers, to those starting their retirement planning and also including long term retirees. FinSec Partners is a privately owned and operated financial advice practice. We believe that by understanding what motivates our clients we are able to provide more appropriate advice and therefore it is important to take the time to really get to know our clients. We also believe that a financial advice relationship should be a long term one and we work hard to be a valued partner in our client’s financial lives.
What is your greatest career achievement?
Becoming a Partner five years ago.
Can you tell us about a challenge you have faced and how you overcame this?
Life has thrown me many challenges and I believe I have mostly faced these head on, doggedly plodding on. The most recent was working out if where I was, was where I was supposed to be and then having determined that it wasn’t, finding out where I should be. I have to say that BCD has helped me significantly with this and that I was introduced to BCD at exactly the right time. The mentoring of my group and hard questions asked, made me focus on things I didn’t really want to face and I am a better person overall as a result of this.
What is the one key reason you continue to be involved with behind closed doors?
The accountability – having to keep moving forward, the need to really work out my goals and an action plan to achieve them.
